Miracle Treat Day

I noticed on a commercial this morning that Dairy Queen is having "Miracle Treat Day" tomorrow, July 30th, where they will donate $1 from the purchase of every Blizzard Treat to the Children's Miracle Network. There are two things that come to mind...

#1...I LIKE Blizzards. A LOT.

#2...Children's Miracle Network is a very worthy cause. CMN supports children's hospitals all over the country, including Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital in Jackson. It is the charity of choice for RE/MAX and RE/MAX Real Estate Partners in Hattiesburg. As such, we want to do all we can to support this special cause.

If you have a chance, go by Dairy Queen tomorrow, enjoy a Blizzard and help CMN. looking for special activities from RE/MAX Real Estate Partners in August, CMN's Month of Miracles. It's going to be fun!

Elected Officials Banquet

Last night, the Hattiesburg Area Association of Realtors (HAAR) and the Greater Hattiesburg Home Builders Association (GHHBA) honored our elected officials with a banquet at The Barn at Bridlewood in Oak Grove.

More than 150 guests were in attendance and heard presentations from Jonathan Shows of BancorpSouth Mortgage who showed the economic impact of two homes built by local builder, Craig Flanagan, and from Jim Stroo, who spoke on behalf of HAAR and outlined a few points of advocacy that the Realtors are concerned with. I had the opportunity to speak on behalf of GHHBA and highlighted our association's relationship with our elected officials on a local, state and national level, which is excellent, by the way.

I'm not sure the general public realizes the efforts made by these two associations in promoting housing, and I'm not sure we all know that a healthy relationship with our elected officials means in those efforts. We're blessed to have a great relationship, for the most part, in our area. It helps us continue to move forward in growth, providing housing and a positive economic impact in our community.

Welcome back to the blog!

One of the basic rules of blogging is to make entries on a consistent basis, and we have done that pretty well in the past, at least prior to our purchase of RE/MAX Real Estate Partners. Taking over the largest and best real estate office in Hattiesburg certainly has had challenges as far as time management, but we've managed to get our legs under us and we're looking forward to blogging again on a more consistent basis!

We hope to bring you interesting information about our business, our community and even glimpses into our personal lives from time to time. Hattiesburg is a great place to live and RE/MAX Real Estate Partners is a wonderful company full of outstanding people.

We look forward to seeing you here soon and on a regular basis!
